“With our campus being remotely located, the global element of the platform was really appealing for us, and we know that this will be a resource that will be valued by our students”
Turtle Mountain Community College is a tribal community college in Belcourt, North Dakota and is the latest college to launch with TalkCampus.
The team at Turtle Mountain CC saw peer support as a welcome addition to their existing student services. With the campus being remotely located, with limited support resources available, TalkCampus will give the Turtle Mountain team an opportunity to identify any of their students who may be at risk, be proactive about student mental health, and provide their students with a way to access support outside of their small community.
"We are very excited to have launched TalkCampus to provide our students with another resource to help support their mental health and wellness. The social platform will provide Turtle Mountain students with a safe and supportive environment, outside of our local community, to engage with like minded students from universities and colleges around the world, talk about their feelings and create connections of support. With our campus being remotely located, the global element of the platform was really appealing for us, and we know that this will be a resource that will be valued by our students".
Turtle Mountain Community College
TalkCampus is the first student mental health service that provides support around the clock, with real-time escalation. Peer support is a well-evidenced form of support that provides instant, ongoing connection wherever a student might be directly through their phones. TalkCampus helps students to start having what can be really challenging conversations around how they are really feeling. Indeed, a recent survey found that since using TalkCampus 85% of students find it easier to ask for help when they need it and 82% find it easier to cope with life.
“It’s fantastic to be able to partner with institutions like Turtle Mountain, who recognize that mental health is integral to a students success and that peer support can play a vital role in early and ongoing intervention. Having a place where students can connect with other students outside of their communities in a de identified and anonymous way, can help students start those difficult conversations about how they are really feeling. We are delighted to welcome Turtle Mountain students to TalkCampus.” Jamie Druitt, Head of Product and Partnerships at TalkCampus.
