SOAS University of London Launches with TalkCampus to Support Their International Student Population

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

SOAS University of London is one of the most international universities in the UK, with students from over 130 countries based in their central London campus. The team at SOAS have partnered with TalkCampus as a way to provide their students with access to a global community of support that is truly diverse, supporting institutions from 5 continents across 25 different languages.

Students from SOAS will be able to connect with other students in their own language, which we know is emotionally significant and important for those reaching out for mental health support. The global aspect of the platform will also ensure continuity of support for those international students returning to their home country and away from the on-campus support during study breaks.

The SOAS team has recognised that giving students access to peer support can help to counter those feelings of isolation that have emerged during both the pandemic and also with the return to campus and adjusting to a new normal.

TalkCampus is a platform that offers instant support from the ease of a student's phone, 24/7 with real-time moderation and escalation. TalkCampus will not only offer instant ongoing support but will also intelligently alert students to additional options for help specific to SOAS all embedded within the app. A combination of peer support, machine-learning and innovative design, TalkCampus offers a community of support for academic anxieties, isolation and life’s ups and downs while also providing social connection with like-minded people, in a non-judgmental environment.

“International students often struggle with unique stressors, including language barriers, homesickness, and isolation. Having somewhere to connect with others globally who may be in similar situations, and share openly and honestly about how you’re really feeling can combat this, boost resilience, and ultimately help students to cope. We are incredibly excited to be welcoming SOAS students to TalkCampus and we know that the platform will be a wonderful addition to their existing support services” Andrew Welch, Head of Partnerships

TalkCampus is a 24/7 global peer support network for students. Supporting over 750,000 students worldwide with real time moderation and escalation. If you would like to explore how TalkCampus can support your students we’d love to hear from you. Book a Demo - https://www.talkcampus.io
