The University of Hawaii Hilo has taken proactive steps to support their students with their well-being by partnering with peer to peer support platform, TalkCampus.
Students will now have access to a global community specifically built for student mental health combining real time moderation and escalation with a space that is both familiar and intuitive for students. Hilo students will be in good company, with hundreds of thousands of students at over 75 institutions worldwide currently receiving support on TalkCampus.
Social Connection is a vital element of wellbeing and Hilo were aware that recent months have made this more challenging and caused increasing isolation for some students. TalkCampus will provide a vibrant and supportive community for round-the-clock interaction.
"Counseling Services at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo knows that there are times when our students would rather talk to someone who can relate directly with their situation, someone who knows what they are going through. That's why we've partnered with TalkCampus to provide our student population with the opportunity to connect with peers/classmates/fellow students who may be going through similar experiences and can lend support. TalkCampus is the first Student Mental Health Service that provides instant support with real-time escalation. TalkCampus takes the pressure off existing services by providing upstream support for students and ensuring that counselling services are freed up for those that really need them. For those institutions with limited out-of-hours services, TalkCampus is a fantastic resource that ensures real-time support, with users located all over the world, across multiple time zones.
